FromSoftware and Bandai Namco are teaming up again for a new iteration in the Dark Souls universe. After countless titles in the soulsborne genre, Elden Ring is set to launch In just a few months. Yet, the series is still very much alive, with plenty of interest in its lore and story. So much so that a new addition to Dark Souls is finally being made. In 2016, a board game based on the Dark Souls universe was already well over 5 million dollars funded. Despite releasing to mixed and poor reception, the game made a decent attempt at being a part of the Dark Souls world. While limited, the Dark Souls board game laid the groundwork. Steamforged Games announced today that they plan to develop a new Dark Souls tabletop Role-Playing game.

Creators of other such tabletop RPGs, Steamforged Games, are taking over the actual development of the game. With plenty of other projects like Horizon Zero Dawn and Monster Hunter: World tabletop games, Steamforged Games are no strangers. With Bandai and FromSoftware licensing the property, Dark Souls has been here before. However, Steamforged Games is getting another shot at creating a true tabletop role-playing game. While fans will have to wait to know more about the systems and mechanics of the title, it’s certainly possible these games will be compatible with Dungeons and Dragons 5e. A standard of the tabletop role-playing genre, Steamforged Games has made numerous RPG systems that are compatible with DND systems. While no release date or info has been shared as of yet, be sure to check back for more on the Dark Souls tabletop RPG.
