Dark Souls will go down in history as one of the games that changed the world – and we aren’t talking about near history, we are talking decades away from where people look back at the games that shaped whatever the Metaverse turns out to be. Sort of how I look at modern bullet-hell shooters and fondly look back at Space Invaders.

Now, Steamforged Games, who have already added a board game to the Dark Souls universe has announced – with not much else in the way of detail and table-top role-playing game to add to the collection, so polish off your dice and get your notepad out. We are going dungeoneering.

At the moment we have but a single tweet (see below) to go on. That takes us to a webpage where we can sign up to be informed at the next stage and upon doing so are met with the simple message ‘Prepare to Die!’ – Nice, ah Dark Souls we love you too but there is zero information at this stage on when we can expect to see anything further.

We suspect, due to the mention of the unkindled and Lothric that the game will be set in the same time period as Dark Souls 3. As for rule sets and whether it will use Dungeons and Dragon’s 5E is unknown – although other tabletop RPGs from the same manufacturer have, so we could perhaps take that as an indicator.

As you can see in the space of two tweets below, whatever Steamforged do with the rules, they won’t be able to please everybody.
